20 Years JOGging

After a successful season on the water, Kathy achieved an overall series win in the two-handed series, plus notable places in a number of fully crewed races.

JOG, despite the junior in the title, are an organisation that organise yacht racing for smaller(hence Junior) amateur yachts during the summer months.

Usually cross Channel and always starting from Cowes in fleets of up to 70 boats.

This year there were two JOG races to Weymouth with WSC being used as the results centre and official watering hole.

A normal racing weekend for Kathy is to get her boat up to the Solent for the Friday evening starts, race across the Channel, then return back to Weymouth by Sunday or early hours of Monday.

When Kathy is not racing across to France or the Channel Islands, she can be found competing in Weymouth Sailing Club races in Weymouth Bay.

Kathy paid tribute to the individuals who had crewed with her for the double handed series and WSC members who helped fully crew her boat to achieve success in other events.

At the prize giving in the Solent University, President Andy Hill, praised Kathy for her dedication and service to JOG over the past two decades, He added that “it’s a real honour to have her sail within our fleet.”

Well done Kathy.
